ARFUR means inheritance. It is OTHRAVAR's fourth album, following The Nine Realms, JÖTNAR, MYRKR and FORNǪLD. Fifteen tracks, each told through a different voice from Norse tradition: gods, heroes, creatures and forgotten sagas. A hammer born from a goddess's golden hair. A poet who earned immortality with words. A god who made silence his weapon. A shieldmaiden who took up a cursed blade without fear. A queen who avenged her brother in the darkest way. A dead man who rose from his grave and never found rest. The album does not follow one hero or one event. It shows the different kinds of inheritance the Norse world passed down: power, words, vengeance, fate. What moves from one generation to the next is not only blood, but the story itself. Pure Nordic folk throughout, built on bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy, tagelharpa and frame drums, driven at high tempo. Three tracks (Hœnir, Cnut the Great, Örvar-Oddr) slow the pace and give the album room to breathe. 15 tracks, sung in Old Icelandic.
